Perhaps Cutler should just shut up?

I think so…if this is true.  Cutler is in a huff because it would appear the Bronco’s explored trading him.  But, if Peter King is correct, Cutler asked for a trade after the season.

I heard one other interesting thing Sunday: Cutler asked for a trade shortly after the Broncos lost offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates — Cutler’s confidant — to USC after the season. So maybe both sides need to go into marriage counseling here. (Source)

Brandon Marshall’s 2009 in doubt

Why, more trouble for the Bronco’s wide receiver. From the Denver Post…

The Broncos may be playing a significant portion of the 2009 season without Brandon Marshall after the star receiver was arrested early Sunday in Atlanta.

An Atlanta City Jail supervisor told The Denver Post that Marshall was booked on a disorderly conduct charge at 5:58 a.m. Marshall was released at 10:24 a.m. after posting a $300 bond.

The charge means Marshall is facing a lengthy suspension — possibly up to a full season — by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for violating the league’s personal-conduct policy.  (Source)

With a cranky quarterback in Jay Cutler and a wide receiver in trouble, all is not well in Dove Valley.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh visits the Seahawks

Says he wants 3-4 years at $10 million per.  (So do I!) At 31 years old I just don’t see it happening.

Is Jay Culter done in Denver?

Listen to what Jay Cutler said…

“My understanding at this point is they’re trying to trade me,” Cutler said this afternoon. “We’ll see where I end up at. I liked it here, I liked playing with these guys but obviously they’re not going to let me have that opportunity.”  (Source)

It looks like they talked about a deal where Matt Cassel would end up in Denver, Culter to Tampa, and a first round pick to New England.

As it turns out, with Cassel going to KC that is not happening.

There seem to be some hurt feelings in Denver. This bears watching.

Where do the Jets go from here?

I agree with Tim Graham of ESPN.com that Favre in New York was nothing but a fiasco.

But where do they go from here?  I think given all the money the Jets have invested in FA players, they have to go out and get a veteran QB.  But who?

As all ways, the Pro Football Grapevine will keep you in the loop with all the latest rumors and buzz.

One Factor in Warner returning

It could be his other star receiver.  From the AZCentral…

“If Anquan (Boldin) tells me he’s coming back, that will make my decision easier,” he said. (Source)

More on Matt Cassel and the Patriots

I think this clearly lays out the two options that will happen with Matt Cassel.

If the Pats aren’t confident enough in Brady’s knee, and also don’t feel backup Kevin O’Connell can assume a starter’s role, they’ll work out a longer term deal with Cassel. Keeping him for the one-year tender would make no sense, as combined with Brady’s cap figure, that would tie up $29.2 million.

If their concerns about Brady aren’t overwhelming, they’ll use their asset and get the best possible deal. Franchising Cassel on the early side of the two-week window allowed by the NFL may allow more time for a market to develop and a potential deal to materialize. (Source)

Tom Cable: One and Done?

From Clifton Brown @ the Sporting News.com…

But the key to the Raiders next season is not the coach or even the
owner. It’s their young quarterback. If Russell steps up, the Raiders
should improve. But if Russell remains inconsistent,
it may not take long for an impatient Davis to pull the plug on Cable.

Pats Franchise Cassel

As the Pro Football Grapevine stated before, the Patriots really did not have any great options at is relates to Matt Cassel and his impending free agency.  Well, it appears that their decision was to franchise him

This leads met to believe a trade will happen as this seems to be the record of the Patriots in these situations.

Dan Reeves on T.O.

As you probably heard, Dan Reeves lasted about 48 hours as an employee of the Dallas Cowboys.  It turns out, some of it may had to do with internal debate over the future of Terrell Owens.  Check out this quote on the radio…

From David Smoak’s show on KTBB-AM in Tyler: “I don’t think you ever talk to the Cowboys without Terrell Owens coming up. I can say there are definitely some mixed feelings about T.O. Most everybody you talk to has a different opinion of him. They definitely have a decision to make as far as to what they will do about T.O., and I really don’t know what that will be.”
