Oh, and his burst is back. Miami Dolphins boss Bill Parcells noticed it last week at practice. So did General Manager Jeff Ireland. Coach Tony Sparano saw it, too.

When Ricky ran, he looked faster. More explosive. Better.

“I saw a little bit of an extra gear,” Sparano said. “Jeff, Bill — they’re saying the same thing. It was a reason why we wanted to get Ricky a little more involved.”

Given a more prominent role Sunday, Williams had a breakaway run and breakout game. He scored on a 51-yard sprint, reached the 100-yard rushing mark for the first time since 2005 and helped the Dolphins win their third game in a row by beating Seattle 21-19. (Source)

Just think how great he could have been if he had made some better choices. What a waste.

What does this mean? Given that this is a copy cat league I think it means more coaches will be replaced this off season…should the trend continue.

From the Miami Herald…

Was the upset in Foxborough, Mass., a fluke? Was it simply an anomaly that the Dolphins, who had lost 20 of 21, dazed the three-time Super Bowl champs, who had won 21 consecutive home games? Only time will tell, but the thoroughness of the beating lends credence to the Dolphins’ belief that it was a milestone. It confirms Bill Parcells’ status as makeover man. It gives coach Tony Sparano credibility as an agent of change. It renews the buzz about Ronnie Brown’s potential.

Brown, proving he has recovered from the injury that cut his 2007 season short, ran for four touchdowns and threw for a fifth as centerpiece of the wacky ”Wildcat” offense.

Even wackier, the college spread option package was rehearsed for the first time since training camp just four days before the game. The scheme, in which running back Brown took the snap in a shotgun formation, was designed by quarterbacks coach David Lee at the University of Arkansas to take advantage of the talents of Darren McFadden.

Sparano and Lee discussed using the ”Wildcat” on the plane ride home from Arizona. An act of desperation or genius? Against the Patriots, the strategy worked again and again and again and again. Don’t expect it to be as effective against San Diego in two weeks. The element of surprise is gone.

But for one memorable afternoon, NFL rookie coach Sparano, whose only former head coaching job was at the University of New Haven, flummoxed the dour mastermind Bill Belichick.

I would caution the fans of Miami…just one week ago they looked pathetic against the Cardinals. One game at a time fins…one game at a time.

Don Banks of SI.com says there is a 99.9% chance Lane Kiffin loses his job in Oakland. (Kind of reminds me of the scene in dumb and dumber were Jim Carey says, “So you’re telling me I got a chance!) I say he does not make it out of September. Banks also lists 9 more coaches on the hot seat.

Since the 1970 merger, only three teams have allowed more points over the season’s first two weeks than this year’s Lions club. Atlanta put up 34 against them in the opener and Green Bay walloped them with 48 — a total that included two interceptions returned for touchdowns. (Click through and see who the others are)

Joey Porter, of a team that “achieved” a record of 1-15 last season, is looking forward to his first win on Sunday versus the Patriots. “It shouldn’t be to hard to beat them” without Tom Brady. If you would like, you can see Porter’s experience acting stupid on Wikipedia. However, Matt Cassel has nothing but respect for Joey Porter.

LaDainian Tomlinson sat out practice with a toe injury. I would not be to worried, a little guy named Darren Sproles seemed to do okay. Of course, if you drafted Tomlinson for your fantasy team, then you could be a little worried.

Meanwhile, over in Panterville, Ken Lucas and Steve Smith are now buddies. Amazing what being 2-0 will do for a team, no?
