In the past two games, the Falcons’ pass defense has been lacking.

Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers passed for 313 yards Sunday, and Carolina’s Jake Delhomme passed for 294 yards the Sunday before.

“That is a concern is terms of passing yards,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said. “That’s something that we as a staff have to address and we’ll be addressing it.”

More disturbing to Smith are the big plays that the secondary has given up.

Green Bay had touchdown passes of 44 and 25 yards. They also had pass plays of 37 and 36 yards. Against Carolina, the Panthers’ Steve Smith had a 56-yard touchdown catch, and Muhsin Muhammad had a 44-yard touchdown catch. (Source)

Yet in spite of that, they sit at 3-2. Why is that? Two words. Micheal. Turner.

The Falcons look like geniuses for signing Michael Turner to a $34.5 million contact. He’s powered the offense and allowed rookie quarterback Matt Ryan to learn on the job.

He’s averaging 5.3 yards per carry and has scored six rushing touchdowns. (Source)

Did you realize that…

Jim Zorn has the Redskins at 3-1.
John Harbaugh has the Ravens at 2-1 and the one loss was a well played game in Pitisburg.
Mike Smith has the Atlanta Falcons at 2-2 and playing respectable football.
Tony Sparano of the Dolphins pulled off a great win over the Pats and has them playing better.

What does this mean? Given that this is a copy cat league I think it means more coaches will be replaced this off season…should the trend continue.
