Afternoon Linkage for 9-18-08
Don Banks of SI.com says there is a 99.9% chance Lane Kiffin loses his job in Oakland. (Kind of reminds me of the scene in dumb and dumber were Jim Carey says, “So you’re telling me I got a chance!) I say he does not make it out of September. Banks also lists 9 more coaches on the hot seat.
Since the 1970 merger, only three teams have allowed more points over the season’s first two weeks than this year’s Lions club. Atlanta put up 34 against them in the opener and Green Bay walloped them with 48 — a total that included two interceptions returned for touchdowns. (Click through and see who the others are)
Joey Porter, of a team that “achieved” a record of 1-15 last season, is looking forward to his first win on Sunday versus the Patriots. “It shouldn’t be to hard to beat them” without Tom Brady. If you would like, you can see Porter’s experience acting stupid on Wikipedia. However, Matt Cassel has nothing but respect for Joey Porter.
LaDainian Tomlinson sat out practice with a toe injury. I would not be to worried, a little guy named Darren Sproles seemed to do okay. Of course, if you drafted Tomlinson for your fantasy team, then you could be a little worried.
Meanwhile, over in Panterville, Ken Lucas and Steve Smith are now buddies. Amazing what being 2-0 will do for a team, no?
